Mr. Muthu Kumar, the Executive chef of Novotel ibis Chennai OMR is known for his gastronomic expertise and professionalism. With over two decades of experience, the veteran believes that hospitality stems from the heart and lies in addressing the unarticulated requests of the guests.
His current responsibilities at the hotel include overseeing the entire culinary vertical from kitchen operations, quality control, stock management, training and development to finally plating dishes for guests and customer satisfaction.
Chef Muthu was fond of the culinary arts from an early age but found his passion in bakery and confectionary while studying at IHM- Chennai. Inspired by the aroma of the bakery, Chef Muthu began work with the Taj Coromandel Chennai only to climb the ladder of success thereon and soon gained experience with hotels including the Leela in India as well as for projects overseas in Germany, Indonesia and more. Chef’s zeal, curiosity and drive to learn helped him gain quick mastery over banquets, restaurants operations, and menu design which levitated him to the role of Executive Chef at Novotel and HICC – South Asia’s largest convention centre and made him an expert in the field.
A team player and a reliable support for his head chefs at other properties, Chef Muthu believes that leadership skills grow when one inspires another and these are the true achievements in life. With varied tastes, Chef Muthu likes experimenting with cuisines, is an avid reader and an Ayurveda enthusiast. His vision for upcoming trends includes creating menus with wellness and health friendly elements.
