Le Roi Fou

Fine dining

Our restaurant

Le Roi Fou is an award-winning restaurant des artistes that presents modern European dishes simply and beautifully, based on sustainably sourced Scottish produce. The intimate interior features a stylish tiled bar with seating and an expertly crafted wine list, while the small red plush salon is a sought-after and relaxing destination for romantic and celebratory fine dining. A further private dining room is available for events.

Le Roi Fou was founded in 2017 by chef Jérôme Henry and creative director & designer Isolde Nash. The name of the restaurant originates in Alfred Jarry's fabled character Ubu Roi: Le Roi Fou is Isolde's culinary version of Ubu Roi, who is historically symbolised by the spiral representing the intestines and therefore extreme love of food. Alfred Jarry (1873-1907) came from Laval in the North West region of France. Le Roi Fou is drawn by the Belgian illustrator Steph von Reiswitz.
