Alkimista is a small but strong restaurant: it is among the top 20 rural restaurants of Hungary and the leading restaurant of Szeged.
It is a hidden butique-resturant situated in the heart of the historic city which offers a seven-course tasting menu in the name of slowfood and the dinners are guided by the chef personally. The modern style interior in the old milieu reflects the concept of our cuisine: we work with the perception of the
21st century but base the cuisine on fine traditions and time-honoured culinary cultures. We favour local ingredients and we change our menu every two weeks, keeping the rythym of the seasons in mind. Alkimista is an open-minded, thoughtful modern restaurant with strong personal modality that attracts like-minded, curious guests.
The size of the restaurant and the fact that we are able to coordinate the reservations allow us to work with a smart workplan, stay environmentally concious and to collect rubbish selectively. With this concept we don’t waste food, time or energy. In our cuisine the interpretation of modern but forgotten ingredients is frequent, for example we often build vegetables and herbs into our dessert. Fancied ingredients are mainly local ones: mangalica pork, goat and goat cheese, river fish (due to the proximity of river Tisza), field mushroom, fresh herbs and edible flowers, sand grown root vegetables, sunflower and corn, buckthorn and camomille and many other things.
